I once learned that love was pain. Something to fear and avoid. But then I realized love is nurture and growth. Something that can set your soul free.

I once learned that family was imposed. Something to bear and endure. But then I realized family is chosen. It supports you and lets you fly beyond where you could by yourself.

I once learned that home was cold and dark. Somewhere you could never escape. But then I realized home is safety. Somewhere you can be at peace and let your guard down.

I once learned that I was always wrong. Everything I was and everything I did was judged and condemned. But then I realized I am not. I can be what I am free from guilt and remorse.

I once tried to hide as much as I could, to lock up inside myself. But then I broke out. Saw the sun for the first time, felt the fresh air on my skin, and never wanted to go back.
